Cindy Rames, age 45, of Alpena, SD, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her memorial service will be at 10:00 AM Friday, June 22, at the United Parish of Alpena with Rev. Sarah Herman officiating. Burial of her cremated remains will be at Rest Haven Cemetery at Alpena. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home with the family present from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Cindy Rames was born Cindy Lou McVay on October 17, 1961, to Boyd and Frances (Frain) McVay at Council Bluffs, IA. The family was living in Emerson, IA, at the time of her birth and Cindy grew up there and in the Red Oak, IA, vicinity. She moved to Huron in 1970 with her family. Following completion of her formal education she worked at Dakota Pork for several years. In 1992 they moved to Alpena where Cindy worked at LSI. On July 12, 2002, Cindy married Michael Rames at Wessington Springs, SD. Her many interests included crocheting, knitting, tatting, gardening, and dancing. Prior to last Christmas Cindy made 24 tie-blankets - one for each member of the family. She was a very accomplished artist with many drawings to her credit and also she designed clothing. She is survived by her husband, Michael of Alpena; 1 son, Damion Shaver and fiance Cindy Johnson of Huron; 1 daughter, Kaleah Rames of Alpena; 4 brothers, Gary (Mary) McVay of Prole, IA, Bob (Cindy) McVay of Plano, TX, Greg McVay of Marshalltown, IA, and Michael McVay and fiance Deb Hunter of Huron; 3 sisters, Midge (Dallas) Berens of Huron, Mary Ann (Danny) Rensch of Red Oak, IA, and Tammy (Mark) Storjohann of Marshalltown, IA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Fabian Shaver; and a niece, Stephanie.
