Our Beloved Dad, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend

Christian Walder, age 88, of Pearl Creek Colony, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026. He was surrounded by his family until his last breath.

Christian was born on February 4, 1938 in Huron, Manitoba, Canada. In 1949, he moved to Pearl Creek Colony in South Dakota at the age of eleven. He was baptized upon his confession in faith.On October 13, 1974, he married Marie Wipf. They shared twenty-five years together and were blessed with five children. Marie passed on in January of 2000. Christian remained a widower for twenty-six years and nine months.

After thirty years of service, he retired from being Hog Manager. Afterwards, he helped in the blacksmith shop, enjoyed being the ladies’ chauffeur, or doing anything the community asked. Dad was a hard worker, as long as he was physically able.

Christian dedicated his life to God and his community. He was a humble, caring example in countless ways. Each one of his family and community members have special memories of Christian in their hearts. The strength, patience, and perseverance he showed throughout the trials and illness was an inspiring example to all. He loved faithfully singing his morning and evenings songs that he knew by heart. Grandpa, we will forever miss your one liners, quick wit, and sense of humor. His faith in God was true and steadfast. He lived it every day.

Left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his children, Pr. Christopher (Brenda), Marian (Pr. Dale), Dorothy (Jason), Jacob (Liz), and Aaron (Diana); brothers, Paul (Theresa), Pr. David (Margaret), George (Frieda) and one sister, Emma (Sammy); and thirty-one grandchildren.

Christian is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie; sisters Dora and Anna; four brothers, John, Aaron, Moses, and Jerry; and grandchildren Christen, Angelina, and Harmony.

A special thank you to all those who stood by and helped take care of Dad. Der Herr sei mit euch. We will forever be grateful.
