Chris Klicker, age 70, of rural Wolsey, SD, died Monday, December 26, 2011, at Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 30, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wolsey with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home; or Friday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. Christian Frederick Klicker, son of Fred and Agnes (Nettinga) Klicker, was born on March 22, 1941, at his maternal grandparent's home in rural Wolsey, SD. He attended and graduated from Wolsey High School in 1959. On December 14, 1959, Chris married Denise Balvin at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wolsey. They were the first couple to be married in the new church following its construction. They moved onto the grandparents' farm which they have owned and operated to the present time. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Wolsey. He loved farming and everything about it - it was not only his work but his relaxation. He liked to take long walks, and in his earlier years he enjoyed hunting. He is survived by his wife, Denise of Wolsey; 1 son, Leif Klicker of Virgil, SD; 2 sisters, Marilyn (Lee) Heller of Wolsey, and Mavis (Ronald) Bensley of Seattle, WA, several nieces and nephews. Chris was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant son, Christian Frederick Klicker, Jr.
