Cheston Brugger, age 87, of rural Hitchcock, died Monday, December 5, 2005, at the Community Memorial Hospital at Redfield, SD. His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 10th, at the Thelen Funeral Home at Redfield with Rev. L. Scott Spiehs officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery at rural Tulare. Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service Saturday afternoon at the Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Cheston L. Brugger was born on January 21, 1918, to Luther and Minnie (Marzahn) Brugger east of Tulare, near Crandon, SD. He attended country school near Tulare and later he farmed with his parents. He farmed most of his life east of Tulare, SD. He was a member of the Crandon Settlement Church. He is survived by his caregiver, Kathleen Dennis of rural Hitchcock, his niece Meris Mack and his nephew Travis Bartel both of Wisconsin and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Violet Bartel and one sister in infancy. Casket bearers will be Kathleen Dennis, Kendall Dennis, Eugene Dennis, Todd Koester, Travis Bartel and Robert Brugger.
