Cherie Geyer, age 69, of Huron passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Cherie Lynn Geyer was born on January 10, 1957, in Huron, South Dakota, to Lyle and Mary Lou McMillan. She graduated from Iroquois High School in 1975. She then attended Stewart School and worked at several hair salons. Later, she owned a furniture refinishing and antique shop with her mother. She finished her working years at the Center for Independence.

Cherie enjoyed spending time with friends and family and took great pride in caring for her home and yard. She was especially devoted to her grandchildren and always had a special activity planned when they came to visit.

She lived life with an exceptionally positive outlook and encouraged others to find the bright side during difficult times. Her kindness, steady love, and uplifting spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Cherie is survived by her daughters, Rachel Geyer and Chelsea (Adam Powell) Geyer; her longtime companion, Gene Hoffman; her siblings, Laurie Niesche and Brent McMillan; and her grandchildren, Aidan, Brylee, and Chance Fuhrman, and Lillyana and Colten Powell.
