Obituary

Charlotte J. DuBois, age 63, of Wessington, was called home on Monday, April 23, 2007 at the Huron Regional Medical Center after a long battle with lung disease. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Friday, April 27th at the First Presbyterian Church in Wessington with Rev. Allen Sager officiating. Burial will be at the Wessington Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Friday morning. The family will be present from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Charlotte DuBois was born Charlotte Munion on July 31, 1943, the only child of Leland and Vernice (Ganske) Munion at Wessington, South Dakota. She enjoyed living the majority of her life in Wessington, SD, graduating from Wessington High School in 1961. She met R. Douglas DuBois while working at the Coffee Shop Caf and they were united in marriage on May 20, 1961. Their first home was in Kansas, then moved back to Wessington to establish their permanent home. Charlotte pursued many hobbies and interests, including ceramics (The Pour House), establishing the Pop Stop Teen Center with a friend, Jane Fritzsche, and eventually becoming owner of the Sunset Bar in Wessington. She so enjoyed the round table discussions over coffee each morning where all the worlds problems were solved. Her culinary talents and hospitality brought people from all over to the Sunset for those special meals, hometown atmosphere and the personal welcome Charlotte offered to all her patrons. Charlotte was an avid supporter of the Wessington community and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wessington, Legion Auxiliary and Jaycettes. Charlottes greatest loves were her husband, Doug, four children, and five grandchildren. Charlottes final act of giving was the gift of donating her healthy bone marrow. Memories of Charlotte will be treasured by her surviving husband, Doug, Wessington; daughters, Robin Lee (Shane) Sivertsen, Miller and Nicole Annette (Jim) Roubik, Inver Grove Heights, MN; three granddaughters, Samantha Kay Sivertsen, Elizabeth Rose and Jenna Nicole Roubik; two grandsons, Drew Douglas and Kaden Lee Sivertsen. Charlotte is also survived by a aunt, Harriett Ganske Balance and a uncle Wayne Ganske. Charlotte also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Christine Kay (stillborn March 1965), and son Daniel Douglas (August 1968).
