Charles Wickham, age 86, of Huron, SD passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Veterans Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron with burial at St. Martin Cemetery, with military honors by the Huron Veteran's Council.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 p.m. on August 1, 2016 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Charles Wickham, the son of Paul and Henrietta (Warner) Wickham, was born on December 22, 1929 in Hawkeye Iowa.  Charles served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in January of 1952.

Charles married Joyce Duresky on September 24, 1955 at the St. Martin's Catholic Church in Huron where they made their first home.

The couple moved to Redfield, SD in 1962, where Charles owned and operated Chuck's Standard Service along with his wife Joyce.  Charles and Joyce made the decision to make Huron, SD their home in 1972 and the couple moved to Huron where they had lived since that time.

Charles was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.  Charles enjoyed proudly growing beautiful roses, watching Minnesota Twins baseball and spending time at the casino.

Grateful for having shared in Charles' life are his son, Michael (Carol) Wickham of Baltic SD; one daughter, Michele (Michael) Benn of Boynton Beach, FL; seven grandchildren, Ashley Gordon of Mesa, AZ; Allexa (Thomas) Smith of Uxbridge, MA; Branden, Melyssa, Kayla, and Amanda Benn of Boynton Beach, FL; and Amber Geller of Redwood Falls, MN; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Harlan (Barbara) Wickham of Aberdeen, SD; two sisters, Laura (Paul) Flanagan of Huron, SD and Norma (Dr. William) Ekman of Ventura, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Joyce.
