Obituary

Cecil Galbreath, age 77, of Huron died Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. His memorial service will be 10:30 am Friday, March 13, 2015 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huron with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Cecil LaBrie Galbreath was born January 26, 1938 at Doland, SD, to Orie and Leona (Labrie) Galbreath. His parents passed away when Cecil was still young. He became a resident of the Redfield State Hospital. He later moved to Huron, joining the Center for Independence. Cecil had various jobs with the Center for Independence throughout the Huron community. Cecil was a very outgoing person who enjoyed many things; including fishing, country music (especially Hank Williams), watching the Twins and the Vikings, and drawing pictures. He also enjoyed competing at softball in the Special Olympics and in a bowling league for many years. Cecil was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, the Knights of Columbus, and the Men's Club at the Salvation Army. Cecil is survived by his brother-in-law, Tom LaChance of CA; seven nieces and four nephews; friends and advocates, Shelly and John Wilson of Huron, Deb Lodmel of Huron; his Center for Independence family; and his Holy Trinity Catholic Parish family. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Leland, Merle, and Gaylen; his sisters, Leila (Gerald) Stedman, Cleo LaChance, and Marguerite (Steve) Rozich; and a niece.
