A celebration of the life and loves of Carolyn (Toots) Styer, 94 of Huron, SD went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus, Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 at Huron Regional Medical Center.
Visitation for Carolyn (Mom) Styer will begin at 5 pm on Sunday, June 26th at Welter Funeral Home in Huron, with a prayer service starting at 6:30 pm.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am, Monday, June 27th also at Welter Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Carolyn was born July 30th, 1921 in rural Miner County, SD to Frank and Mabel (Bates) North. She grew up in the Cavour area, attending school there through the eighth grade.
She later met and married William (Bill) Styer on March 30th, 1942 in Huron, SD.
They lived in Morningside, where she raised her eight children, while providing baked goods for many local businesses. Later she went on to work out of the home at Newberry's then the Plains Motel, until retiring at the age of 83.
The things she valued most in life were spending time, first and foremost, with Jesus, her family and loved ones (she never met someone she failed to love). She found great joy in crocheting and teaching her family the intricate details of it, dancing and praising the Lord were a constant, she enjoyed gambling for a period of time in her life.
She was a member of the Morningside Mothers club, which later became the Yada Yada Club and attended Mt Olivet Church in recent years. Her favorite place to vacation is the Black Hills of SD. She was looking forward to celebrating her 95th birthday in Spearfish, SD this July.
Survivors include her children, Dennis (Kathy Wipf) Styer, Rapid City, Gloria Jean Saputo, St. Charles, MO, (My Rog) Roger (Sharon) Styer, Huron, Vern (Becky) Styer, Jackson, MO, Krista (Marv) Tompkins, Huron, Belinda Sue Norris, St. Charles, MO, Brent (Linda) Styer, Wentzville, MO, and Joan Styer, Huron; special son, Dennis Roy; 22 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; son-in-law, John Saputo; grandson, Heath Styer; and her 15 Siblings.
