Carol R. Maunders, age 85, of Huron, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Avantara Huron. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Huron Christian Church with burial following at Riverside Cemetery in Huron. Visitation with her family present will be from 4-6 pm on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or visitation, one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Carol was born June 9, 1936, to Daniel and Hazel (Fennell) Schmidt at Alpena, the oldest of 6 children.

She graduated from Alpena High School in 1954, and worked briefly before starting her family.

Carol was a devoted mother for most of her life.  She returned to work years later when her children were older.  She loved music, dance, card games, baking, gardening, sewing, and canning but, above all, her children.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, her parents Daniel and Hazel I. Schmidt, her brothers Douglas and Allen Schmidt and her son John F. Maunders and granddaughter Heidi Schultz.

Carol is survived by her children, Brad, Rocky, Joe, Tom, Teresa, Mona, Jon, Shari and Carla; her sisters Joyce & Diane, brother Rick; her grandchildren, Tracie, Sean, Nikki, Nathan, Amber, Breanne, Bailey, Ryan, Remington, Tony, Hope, Scott, Nathan, Amy, Tina, Tasha, Alison, Zachary & Paige as well as 32 great grandchildren.

Carol was a daughter well loved; a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend, and she will be deeply missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
