Carol Hofer, age 73 of Yale, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at her home in Yale surrounded by family. Her Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron. A private family burial will be held at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Yale. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Carol Jean was born on August 27, 1948 in Huron, South Dakota to parents ElRoy and Evelyn (Wipf) Maas. She grew up in the Yale area, graduating from Bancroft High School in 1966.
Carol married Richard Hofer on October 13, 1966 in Yale, South Dakota. The family made their home in Yale. Carol worked at Dakota Pork for 12 years as a meatcutter before the plant closed.
Spending time with her family and grandkids was very special to Carol. She loved to attend their sporting events and cheer them on. She and Richard also enjoyed camping. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Yale and Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron.
She is survived by her children, Jamie (Amy) Hofer of Huron and Julie (Alan) Duncan of Parker; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Brad) Olson, Brock (Megan Mori) Duncan, Andrea (Travis DeJong) Duncan, Cauy (Randi) Hofer, Cassie Hofer, Kali Hofer, and Ellie Hofer; four great-grandchildren, Harlan, Corinne, and Grady Olson, and Everley DeJong; one brother, William (Pam) Maas of Iroquois; three sisters, Shirley Tschetter of Huron, Marilyn Mitzel of Yale, and Sharon (Roger) Korkow of Cavour; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard in 2021; her daughter SueAnn in 1971; and sister Norma Nelson.
