Carol M. Brenner, 80, of Huron, SD and formerly of Hitchcock, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at her home
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday May 15, 2016 at Welter Funeral Home.
Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016 also at Welter Funeral Home with interment following at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Carol was born October 19, 1935 at Huron, SD to Steve and Elizabeth (Miedema) Boomsma. She was raised in the Broadland area, attending country schools, until going to the Huron High School, graduating in 1953. After high school, she attended airline training in Omaha, before returning home.
She then met and married Edward Brenner, Sr. on December 28, 1954 in Wolsey. She worked in the pathologist office at St. John's Hospital for several years and continued as a farm wife, working alongside her husband on their farm near Hitchcock for 44 years, before moving to Huron in 2008.
Carol was a member of the Hitchcock United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, bowling and camping. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild and her very special companion "Lucky.".
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Rhonda Walters, Huron, SD, Judy Brenner, Sioux Falls, SD, Edward (Diann) Brenner, Redfield, SD, and Kathy Watson (James Hines), Huron, SD; 8 grandchildren, Sarah Myers, Steven Lovett, Carol Lea Walters (Ian Neal), Shannon (Mark) Malone, Jami (Stacy) Whitlock, Nicole Rogers (Eric Siemonsma), Michelle Watson (Josh Ziegeldorf) and Jennifer Watson; 11 great-grandchildren, Sasha Ford, Satoya Myers, Alexis Hansen, Kati Schwartz, Nikylee Schwartz, Dawsyn and Hailey Rogers, Amyah and Amari Greene, August Ziegeldorf and Blaze Whitlock; great-great grandson, Jaden Peterson; sisters, Liz Hiles and Agnes Teveldal, both of Huron; brother-in-law, Eugene (Rose) Brenner, Huron; sister's-in-law, Sally Boomsma and Kay Boomsma, both of Huron.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Brenner, Sr.; brothers, Dick and Jake Boomsma; sister, Reva Stengle; and great-grandson, Hunter Ziegeldorf.
