Carlisle Peterson, age 77, of 137 Illinois Ave. SW, Huron, SD, died Thursday, December 11, 2008 at his home.

His funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 15, at the Welter Funeral Home with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1-8 p.m. at the Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 p.m.; or Monday morning one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Carlisle J. Peterson was born on May 26, 1931, on the kitchen table to Wesley and Genevieve (Sand) Peterson at Holabird, SD. He grew up in Huron, SD, and Mountain Home, AR.

He attended Huron schools and joined the U.S. Army at the age of seventeen, serving two four-year tours of duty in Germany.

He married Lieselotte (Lottie) Lobenfelder in Germany. Lottie and Carlisle lived in Huron and were married 56 years prior to Lottie's death in 2005.

He worked as a baker and for rural electric for many years before retiring in 1987.

He is survived by his three sons, Peter (Carrie) Peterson, Ronald (Donna) Peterson, and Christopher (Keelee) Peterson; his daughter Joan Bartel; eight grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and eight great-grandchildren.

Carlisle was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and three sisters, Rosella, Lillian, and Bonnie.
