Bryan Lee Halter passed away on Saturday, October 26th at the Royal C. Johnson Veterans' Memorial Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 56 after a long battle with brain cancer (Glioblastoma). His funeral mass will be Saturday, November 2nd at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron with military honors by the Huron Veteran's Council. Interment will be at St. Martins Cemetery in Huron at a later date.
Bryan was born September 14, 1963 to Robert and Cecelia (Nelson) Halter in Huron, SD. He grew up enjoying life in the country. He graduated from Huron High School in 1982, and then attended Lake Area Tech in Watertown, SD. He joined the National Guard and soon enlisted into the Army where he was stationed in Fort Lewis, WA and in Korea. He served in the Army from 1986 until 1988 when he was honorably discharged. After the Army, Bryan worked several jobs as farmhand, welder and truck driver. He was employed with NTA Trucking Ltd. at the time of his diagnosis.
Bryan loved to spend time watching NASCAR and dirt track racing, he loved MOPAR and working on cars. Bryan's family was very important to him and he loved spending time with them, especially spoiling his great nephew and nieces.
Bryan is survived by his father; sister, Jackie (Randy) Winegar; brother, Steve (Staci) Halter all of Huron; sister, Angie Halter of Sioux Falls; niece, Jennifer (Brett) Miller; great-nephew, Alex Miller; great-nieces, Danika, Kenzie and Brynnlee Miller all of Tea, SD.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Cecelia Halter; paternal grandparents, Henry & Marie (Connor) Halter; maternal grandparents, Ernest & Callista (Winker) Nelson.
