Brian James Swanda, age 36, of Huron, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at his residence.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with burial at St. Martin's Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Brian was born on March 15, 1980 in Huron, SD to John J. and Karen K. (Tschetter) Swanda, Jr. He attended school in Huron and graduated from Huron High School in 1998. Brian was the press operator at the Daily Plainsman for 10 years before working at NAPA as a parts representative for the past 4 years.

Brian loved all kinds of music and playing the guitar.  In his younger years, he enjoyed camping, hiking in the Black Hills, Legos, and playing video games. He later enjoyed gardening, cooking, drawing, and spending time with his family; especially his daughter, Natalie, who he treasured and adored.

Brian is survived by his significant other, Shannon Beekman and their daughter, Natalie Swanda , both of Huron; his mother, Karen Swanda of Huron; 2 sisters, Angela (Matt) Hunter of Castlewood, SD and Melissa (Kane) Radel of Sanborn, MN; 2 nieces and 2 nephews, Cala, Jakeb, Ella and Landan Hunter. His paternal grandmother Mary Swanda, maternal grandfather John R Tschetter, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Swanda, Jr.; maternal grandmother, Marie B. Tschetter; paternal grandfather, John Swanda, Sr.; and paternal uncle, Jake Swanda.
