Obituary

Bonnie B. Runge, age 95, formerly of Wessington passed away September 1, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society in Sioux Falls, SD.

Her mass of Chrisitan Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on September 8, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron.  Burial will be in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Wessington.

Visitation, with the family present, will be one hour from 9-10 am before the service, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Huron.

Bonnie was born to Lloyd and Mabel (McNeely) Cavenee May 20, 1930, in Beadle County at the family farm and was the oldest of seven siblings. She grew up on a farm north of Wessington and attended a rural school through eighth grade.  During high school in Wessington, she lived in the girls' dormitory and worked in the coffee shop after school to help with expenses. Bonnie graduated in 1948 and then worked in Rapid City for a few months.  She married Lawrence Runge December 15, 1948, and they were married almost 68 years.  They lived in Wessington for a few months then moved to the farm south of town.  Their daughter, Verna, was born November 26, 1949.  Ten years later they moved to a farm north of Wessington.  Their son, Larry, was born October 3, 1960.

Bonnie was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bible Study, St. Joseph's Altar Society, Confraternity of Christian Mothers, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Bonnie is survived by one daughter, Verna Yarnall, Sioux Falls; one son, Larry (Tracy) Runge, Rogers, Minnesota, and five grandchildren:  Jessica (Scott) Loarie, San Rafael, California; Kristi (Herb) Tousley, Edina, Minnesota; Nick Runge (fiancé Irie Nite), Playa Vista, California; Matthew Runge, Rogers, Minnesota; Katie Runge-Sederquest (Tayler), Rogers, Minnesota; five great grandchildren:  Madeleine and Isabella Loarie; Harrison and Theodore Tousley; Marlon Sederquest; one sister, Sharon Vitters, Rapid City; one brother, Wesley Cavenee, Albuquerque, New Mexico; and sisters-in-law, Gloria Mundt, Shakopee, Minnesota; Shirley Runge, Sioux Falls, SD; one brother-in-law, Gordon Fliehe, Logan, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the small children.  She was known as GG to the great grands.  After family, her activities included serving as a precinct worker for the elections for many years, quilting for the troops, canning, and gardening.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence, sisters Joan Colling, Marilyn Meehan, Nedra Fliehe, and her brother Arthur Cavenee.
