Robert “Bob” C. Schutt, age 67, of Huron, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with inurnment in Restlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
Visitation with his family present will be on Friday, May 29th from 5-7 PM at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with a scripture prayer service beginning at 6:30 PM at the church. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Bob was born on January 29, 1959, in De Smet, SD to Carl and Alice (Wallenstein) Schutt. Bob's family moved to Manchester, SD during his 7th grade year. He graduated from Iroquois High School in 1977 and later attended Lake Area Tech in Watertown where he graduated in 1979.
After his education at Lake Area Tech, Bob worked at Sutton Ford of De Smet, Schoenhard Ford of Huron, Swift Meat Packing, Dakota Pork, and Terex.
He enjoyed Allis Chalmers tractors, cooking, gardening, tinkering, and spending time with his family, which included several annual camping trips to the Niobrara River in Nebraska. Bob was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, the Knights of Columbus, and the Beadle County Sportsman Club.
Bob is survived by his wife, Bernie Schutt of Huron; one son, Brad (Angie) Schutt of Huron; five grandchildren, Emily, Landon, Ella, Lydia, and Elizabeth; two brothers, George (Sue) Wallenstein of Worthing, SD, and Kenny Wallenstein of Huron; one sister, Clara (Terry) Crater of Huron; his mother-in-law, Linda McCoy of Huron; and one sister-in-law, Becky Rose of Huron.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Brady, in 2024.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Holy Trinity Parish Roof Fund, 425 21st St. SW, Huron, SD 57350.
