Blanche McNeil, age 86, of Huron, died Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron. Visitation with family present will be from 6-8 pm Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Welter Funeral Home. Her committal service will be noon, Mountain Time, on Friday September 27, 2013, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD. Blanche Belle Stobbs was born June 26, 1927, in Vayland, SD, to Guy and Ada (Sass) Stobbs. She attended Wessington Public Schools. She married Lyle McNeil on September 26, 1947, in Wessington. They moved to Rapid City, SD, where they raised their four children; moving back to Huron after her husband's death in 1992 to be closer to her sisters. Blanche enjoyed cooking, crocheting, crossword puzzles, canning and watching the Atlanta Braves baseball games. Blanche is survived by her children, Charlotte (William) Lindsey of Taylors, SC, Gary (Lori) McNeil of Anchorage, AK, Keith (Terri) McNeil of Albuquerque, NM, and Mary (Allen) Reed of Anchorage, AK; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle; four sisters; two brothers; two great-grandchildren, Davis and Benjamin Lindsey.
