Betty Schultz, age 78, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Huron, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Her funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 7, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home; or Thursday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.
Betty Schultz was born Betty Mae Johnson on January 23, 1931, to Alfred and Merle (Rudloff) Johnson in Huron. SD. She grew up here and attended Huron High School.
On October 25, 1947, Betty married Charles Schultz in Huron. The couple lived here until 1962 when they moved to Sioux Falls for 2 years, Luverne, MN, for 1 year, then Billings, MT, Watertown, SD, Harrisburg, SD, for 7 years, and finally the Sioux Falls area for the last 2 years.
When Betty lived in Huron, she was a member of St. Martins Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Charles of Sioux Falls, SD; 2 sons, Mike (Geri) Schultz of Brandon, SD, and Rick (Rhonda) Schultz of Wichita, KS; 7 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert Johnson of Huron; 1 sister, Dorothy Neitzert of Minnesota; 1 brother-in-law, Eddie Neitzert of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 daughter, Kay Smith; 1 son-in-law, Michael Smith; 2 grandsons, Thad Schultz, and Marvin Smith; 2 sisters, Shirley Neitzert, and Ila Schmidt; 1 brother, Don Johnson; 2 brothers-in-law, Fritz Neitzert, and Calvin Schmidt; and 1 sister-in-law, Lorraine Johnson.
