Betty M. Meyers, age 84, of 626 Frank Ave. S.E., Huron died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron. Her funeral service is 2:00 PM Friday, May 9, 2008 at American Lutheran Church in Huron, with Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Burial will be at Lake Preston Cemetery, Lake Preston, SD. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the Welter Funeral Home or one hour prior to the service at the church Friday afternoon. Betty Megan Roberts, the daughter of David Samuel and Ethel (Bray) Roberts was born on May 28, 1923 in Neath, South Wales, the United Kingdom. Betty attended school in Wales. She married Raymond Nelson on July 29, 1944 in Urmston, England. Raymond died on January 31, 1959. Betty married Donald Meyers on July 5, 1962 in Lake Preston, SD. Betty worked as a Nurses Aide for the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home for many years. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Huron. Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling, crocheting, quilting, fishing and was a Minnesota Twins fan. Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Ronald A. Nelson, Mitchell, SD; her two daughters, Teri Jo (David) Waagen, Huron, SD; and Maureen Weflen, Fredericksburg, VA; five grandchildren Kristi Macadaeg, Indianapolis, IN, Kari Loofe, Sioux Falls, SD, Michelle Blue, Rapid City, SD, Ashley Waagen, Huron, SD, and grandson, Joshua Waagen, Huron, SD; and nine great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Raymond Nelson in 1959 and Donald Meyers on February 12, 1985; and four sisters, Glenys Conway, Eileen Thomas, Mae Parsons, and Iris Norman.
