Obituary

Betty J. "Bubbles" McBride, age 76, of Huron, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016 at Huron Regional Medical Center.

Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 1016 at First Presbyterian Church in Huron with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 pm on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Welter Funeral Home with a prayer service beginning at 7 o'clock; or visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Betty was born on September 30, 1939 on the family farm north of Huron to Sam K. and Lydia (Tschetter) Wipf. She attended Fairfield No. 4 School until the 8th grade when she attended high school in Huron and graduated from Huron High School in 1957.

Betty was united in marriage to Morris Herdman in 1959 in Huron; she later married Claire McBride at First Presbyterian Church in Wessington on January 25, 1986.

Betty enjoyed camping, traveling and wintering in Texas with Claire. She also cherished her time spent with her family and cheering on and watching her grandchildren play in their respective sporting events. Betty loved to cook, play domino games with her siblings, and watch the MN Twins, Chicago Cubs, and high school basketball games. Betty was active at First Presbyterian Church, VFW Auxiliary, and Huron Area Senior Center.

Betty is survived by her husband, Claire of Huron; one son, Dale (Debra) Herdman of Wessington, SD; three daughters, Loretta (Steve) Krick of Huron, Rita (Tim) Katz of Woonsocket, SD, and Diana Herdman of Huron; eight grandchildren, Greg Swearingen, Jason Swearingen, Jeremie Herdman, Andrew Herdman, Nathan Klusman, Kyle Klusman, Misty Williams, and Tiffany Ogle; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ferd Wipf of Huron and Peter (Cheryl) Wipf of Nicholasville, KY; two sisters, Lilly Kern of Olivia, MN and Lorraine Kleinsasser of Wessington, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; one grand-daughter, Stephanie Beigh; two twin grand-sons, Jay and Joshua Herdman; five sisters, Ruby Kleinsasser, Evelyn Maas, Susie Pullman, Anna Friesen, and Katherine Wipf; and three brothers, John Wipf, Clifford Wipf, and Sam L. Wipf.
