Betty Jean Johnson, age 84, of 215 S. Maple, Watertown, formerly of Huron, died on Monday, September 1, 2009, at the Jenkins Living Center in Watertown, SD.

Her Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2009, at the American Lutheran Church in Huron, with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Huron.

Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Thursday, September 3, at Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 p.m.; or Friday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.

Betty Jean Johnson, the daughter of Harry and Marie (Chase) Wiese, was born on June 25, 1925, in Huron, South Dakota. Betty attended Huron schools and graduated from Huron High School in 1943. She also received a degree from the College of Commerce in Huron. Betty married Delbert Johnson on July 31, 1943, in Ephrata, Washington. Betty worked for Wiese Seed and Appliance in Huron for a number of years. She also worked as a cook for the Huron Senior High from 1966 until 1970. Betty moved to Watertown in 2008.

Betty was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Huron. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Gary Johnson and Michele Moldrem of Watertown, SD; her daughter, Barbara Moret and her husband, Al, of Madrid, IA; 4 grandchildren: Dawn Bistodeau, and her husband, Darren, of Florence, SD; Mike Moret of Alleman. IA; Chad Moret, and his wife, Sabrina of Cummings, IA; and Mark Moret of Colorado Springs, CO; 5 great grandchildren, Landon, Haydon, Lawson, Keaton, and Aiden; and a sister, Etta Mae Doolittle of rural Wolsey, SD.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Delbert in 1993.
