Betty Boop Henson, age 70, of 1029 Arizona Ave SW, Huron, died Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at her home. Her funeral service will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, October 1st at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Dale Sattgast and Rev. Christopher Ascher officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening or Saturday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Saturday afternoon. The family will be present from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. Betty Henson was born Betty Ilene Dethlefs on March 24, 1935, to Daniel and Ruth (Cunningham) Dethlefs on the family farm in Jerauld County. She graduated from Alpena High School in May 1953. On December 27, 1952, Betty married Donald L. Henson in Pipestone, MN. They moved to Huron in July 1957. She was employed with Kaspersons Cafe, the Little Z, Huron Public Schools, Sportsman Bar, Shenanigans and Venables Shoe Store. She was a member of Firefighters Auxiliary, Women of the Moose Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary and Prairie Ramblers Motorcycle Club. Betty loved life and her friends and was a Mother and Grandmother to many. She is survived by her 5 children, Sue (Bob) Ringheimer of Huron, Daniel (Judy) Henson of Huron, Donald (Cheryl) Henson of Missoula, MT, Terry White of Rapid City and Lona (Vince) Moser of Huron; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; a special friend Al; 3 brothers, Larry (Nancy) Dethlefs, Lowell (Phyllis) Dethlefs and Franz (Michele) Dethlefs all of Rapid City; 1 sister Lois Wiegele of Lebanon, Oregon; 3 sisters-in-law, Maxine (Marvin) Blauvelt of Thedford, NE, Pat (Lynn) Powell of Sioux Falls and Bonnie (Steve) Clemetson of Wright, WY; 1 brother-in-law, Richard (Karen) Sinkie of Gann Valley; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Donald on April 23 1991. Casket bearers will be Shannon Hofer, Brad Henson, Bob Henson, Toby Henson, Michael Moser, Bill Eining, Jeff White and Kyle Kunsela.
