Betty Edelman, age 79, of Huron, SD, died Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Huron Regional Medical Center. Her body has been cremated and burial of her cremated remains will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Betty Edelman was born Betty Jean Rolof, daughter of Gustave "Gust" and Eleanor (Ibis) Rolof, on January 3, 1935, in Ipswich, SD. She moved with her parents to various farms in the Huron area as she was growing up and attended schools in those areas. On November 21, 1951, Betty married Lloyd Edelman in Huron. The couple remained in Huron where they owned and operated East Side Salvage. Lloyd died on June 11, 1993, and Betty operated the business until her retirement in 1996. Betty enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, and watching the hummingbirds. She is survived by 1 son, Scott Edelman and his special friend Michelle Sexton of Huron; 3 grandchildren, Jeff Edelman, Terra Edelman, and Dustin Edelman; 3 great grandchildren, Kylie Spoonemore, Jaymus Dame, and Jozlyn Cottingham; 2 brothers, Jack Rolof of Huron, and Elmer (Dianna) Rolof of Kuna, ID; and 1 sister-in-law, Dorothy Rolof of Lancaster, CA. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd on June 11, 1993; 1 brother, Theodore Rolof; and 2 sisters, infant Selma Rolof, and Violet Chism; and 1 brother-in-law, Jeff Chism.
