Betty Castle, age 86, of Mitchell, formerly of Huron died Saturday, June 13, 2015 in her home. Memorial visitation with family present will be 5-7 pm Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with a private burial prior to the service. Betty Hart was born on July 16, 1928 in Hitchcock to Norval and Nell (Ingram) Hart. She attended country school in rural Beadle County. Betty worked for a time in the cafeteria at the Armour's packing plant where she met Charles Castle. Betty married Charles on July 17, 1947 in Huron. After they were married, she stayed home to raise her family. Betty loved staying cooking and baking for her family. She also was skilled at crocheting and sewing. Betty enjoyed camping and spending time at the family cabin on Lake Byron. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her three great grandchildren. Betty was a member of the YWCA and was a Y Teen Club leader for a while. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church and volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher. Betty was also a life time member of the Artesian American Legion Post #47 Auxiliary. Betty is survived by her two daughters, Deb Castle of Burlington, WA, Deanna (Richard) Bechen of Artesian; two grandchildren, Ryan (Kaci) Bechen of Artesian, Desirae (Justin) Mayer of Kimball; 3 great grandchildren, Abby Bechen, Alex and Conner Mayer; one sister, Darlene Bloodgood of Sedro-Woolley, WA; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Hart of Mt. Vernon, WA, Florence Siegenthaler, from Verona, WI; several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles Castle in 1995; two brothers, Robert Hart and Clifford Hart; and one brother-in-law, Ralph Bloodgood.
