Berta A. Velasquez, 66, Huron, falleció el martes, 26 de abril de 2016 Avera McKennan Hospital de Sioux Falls. Su visita y el tiempo de compartir será de 7:30 a 9:30 el viernes, 29 de abril de 2016 en la iglesia  Nueva Jerusalém , 110 4th St NE en Huron,  El Velorio continuara toda la noche  en la iglesia asta el sábado por la mañana. El cortejo fúnebre saldrá de la iglesia a las 11:00 el sábado para su servicio en el cementerio de Riverside.

Berta nació el 08 de abril de 1950 en Zacapa, Guatemala, Jose y Maria (Cordon) Chacón. Ella se unió en matrimonio con Juan Velasquez en febrero de 1970 en Guatemala. Juntos, Berta y Juan establecieron cerca de 100 iglesias en Guatemala y El Salvador antes de moverce a los Estados Unidos en 1998 y  establecieron 8 iglesias en Minnesota y Dakota del sur. Berta le encantaba servir a las personas necesitadas ya sea en su iglesia, familia o personas totalmente desconocidas. Ella disfrutaba  pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos y fue una buena "pacificadora" en tiempos de conflicto.

Ella es sobrevivida por sus cuatro hijas; Ruth (Fabian Arevalo) Velásquez, Devora (Wilson Rodriguez) Velasquez, Silvia (Irlando) Dubon y Yessica (Héctor Guzmán) Velasquez ; un hijo, Juan (Mari Arevalo) Gomez; y varios nietos.

Berta A. Velasquez, 66, of Huron, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Her visitation and time of sharing will be from 7:30 to 9:30 pm on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Nueva Jerusalem Church, 110 4th St NE in Huron. The all night wake will continue at the church through Saturday morning. The funeral procession will depart from the church at 11 am on Saturday for her graveside service at the Riverside Cemetery.

Berta was born on April 8, 1950 in Zacapa, Guatemala to Jose and Maria (Cordon) Chacon. She was united in marriage to Juan Velasquez in February of 1970 in Guatemala. Together, Berta and Juan established nearly 100 churches in Guatemala and El Salvador before moving to the United States in 1998 and establishing 8 churches in Minnesota and South Dakota. Berta loved to serve people in need whether it was in her church, family, or total strangers.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was a good "peacemaker" in times of conflict.

She is survived by her four daughters; Ruth (Fabian Arevalo) Velasquez, Devora (Wilson Rodriquez) Velasquez, Silvia (Irlando) Dubon, and Yessica (Hector Guzman) Velasquez; one son, Juan (Mari Arevalo) Gomez; and several grandchildren.
