Obituary

Bernita Johnson, age 85, of 523 12th St. SE, Huron, died Tuesday, August 30, 2005, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 3, at American Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Saturday morning. The family will be present from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Bernita G. Rearick was born on October 22, 1919, to Ansel and Ella (Armstrong) Rearick at Letcher, SD, where she was baptized at the Congregational Church. She received her education in the public school system at Letcher. On December 3, 1939, Bernita married Allen Johnson at Letcher. After the couple moved to Huron, she was employed at Woolworths for a period of time, and also was a domestic helper for several families. Bernita was a member of American Lutheran Church, and the Women of the Moose. She loved spending time with her family and sharing with them her precious needlework creations. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing, playing Solitaire, and Find a Word puzzle books. Blessed to have shared her life are her husband, Allen of Huron; 3 daughters, Eleanor (Larry) Crabb of Glencoe, MN, Judith (Larry) Kobriger of Plankinton, and Joyce (Larry) Jansen of De Smet; 12 grandchildren, Allen (Kelly) Crabb, Penny Leuhrs, Peggy (Galen) Sunden, Christine (Rick Gorter) Kobriger, Elizabeth (Mark) Rosenbaum, Susan (Peter) Martin, James (Samantha) Kobriger, Jeffrey Kobriger, Lisa (Jason) Ziegeldorf, Lora (Friedrich) Trost, Linda (Mike) Gilbertson, and Lesley (Adam) Berry; 20 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 1 brother, Keith (Irene) Rearick of Huron; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother, Dale Rearick; 1 sister, Leota Johnson; 1 great grandson, Alec Ziegeldorf; 1 sister-in-law, Alice Rearick; and 1 brother-in-law, Clarence Johnson.
