Bernice Hermanson, age 99, of Huron, SD, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday. March 29, at First Presbyterian Church with burial at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Friday, March 28, from 6-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home; or Saturday morning one hour prior to the service. Bernice Hermanson was born Bernice Lydia Sanderman, daughter of Edward and Wilhelmina (Osterholz) Sanderman, on November 4, 1914, in Waukon, IA. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school through her elementary years, and attended high school in Waukon. On April 3, 1933, Bernice married LeRoy Hermanson in Decorah, IA. The couple lived and farmed in the Rossville, IA, area for several years. LeRoy later took a job as a salesman and over the next many years the family lived in various cities throughout the United States. They moved to Huron in the mid 1960's. Bernice then worked for Raven's for a few years. She moved into the Courtyard Apartments in 2003, and became a resident of SunQuest Healthcare Center in February 2012. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Bernice is survived by 1 daughter, Janice (Melvin) Dosch of Huron; 4 sons, Harlan (Barb) Hermanson of Wichita, KS, James Hermanson of San Diego, CA, Herbert (Carol) Hermanson of Biloxi, Miss., and Earl (Faye) Hermanson of Kettering, OH; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; 1 brother, Neil (Bonnie) Sanderman of Waukon, IA; and 1 daughter-in-law, Lorene Hermanson of Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy on April 15, 1981; 2 sons, Kenneth Hermanson, and Norbert Hermanson; 1 daughter, Ruby Hermanson; 1 grandson, Brian Hermanson; and 1 brother, Urban (Dorothy) Sanderman.
