Obituary

Berneda M. Scroggins, age 91, of 91 South Terrace Drive, Huron, died Friday, August 31, 2007 at her residence. Her Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 AM Monday, September 24th at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Terry Anderson officiating. Burial of her cremated remains will be at Belle Fourche, SD. There will be no visitation. Berneda M. Scroggins was born Berneda Margaret Langmeyer on June 29, 1916, to Andy and Theresa (Fecht) Langmeyer at De Smet, SD. She grew up at Carthage, SD and attended school there. Later she moved with her parents to Brookings. On February 21, 1939, Berneda married Jack Harland Scroggins. After their marriage they moved to Sioux Falls. In 1942, they moved to Vancouver, WA where she worked at the Kaiser Shipyards as a welder. In 1950, she moved to Lead, SD where her husband worked at the Homestake Goldmine. Then after her husbands death she moved to Huron in 1981, to be with her daughter. She loved to go fishing, camping and spending time with her cat Sunnie. She is survived by 1 daughter, Shirley Rae Nelson of Huron; 5 sisters, Jeannette Waage of Colman, SD, Viola (Dale) Wagner of Brookings, Virginia Billet of Brookings, Arlene Larson of Burke, SD and Mary (Ed) Collins of Brookings; 5 grandchildren, Tena (Jeff) Brooks of Eugene, OR, Rhonda (Shane) Ringheimer of Huron, Jack (Sharon) Christensen of Mitchell, Bonnie (Chad) Palmer of Huron and Norma Nelson of Montevideo, MN; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, her daughter Jacqueline Doud, her brother Andrew and 1 granddaughter, Cindy Holven.
