Barbara Seng, age 80, of Redfield, formerly of Huron, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Redfield. A memorial service and burial will take place at a later date. There will be no memorial visitation. Barb's family asks that memorials be directed to the Beadle County Humane Society. Barbara Jean Seng was born on October 25, 1934 in Idaho to George and Edna (Wixson) Furman. She moved with her family to Huron in 1945 and attended Huron High School. Barbara moved to Chicago and worked in a restaurant where she met Jacob Seng. The two were married on November 10, 1958 in Pipestone, MN. The couple then returned to Huron to raise their family. Barbara loved all animals, especially cats and dogs. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, knitting, and helping with her kids while they were in school by being a teacher's aide and helping with Girl Scouts. Barbara is survived by four children, Layne (Todd) Eilertson of Huron, Robyn (Jim) Keating of Sioux Falls, Dave (Shirley) Seng of Arkansas, Darlene Girot of California; 16 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and one brother, Richard Furman of Rapid City. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jacob Seng in 1990; and one sister Vicky Furman in 1985.
