Barbara Schultz, age 75, of Huron, SD, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at her home. Her committal service and entombment will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, at Restlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation with family present will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home. Barbara Schultz was born Barbara Ann Abramson, daughter of Kenneth and Marjorie (Better) Abramson, on March 29, 1937, in Huron, SD. She grew up on the family farm near Broadland, SD, and attended school in the Broadland area. When she was in junior high she moved to Huron and in 1955 graduated from Huron High School. Following graduation she attended and graduated from beautician's school. She worked for 3 years with her mother as a hairdresser at The Inn. On March 9, 1958, Barbara married Ron Schultz at Broadland, SD. The hair salon was moved to Barbara's mother's home where they both continued to work until 1974 when Barbara opened her own salon at her own home. She was active as a hair dresser until the time of her death. During this time Barbara and Ron owned rental property, which Ron primarily managed. Following his death Barbara took over the management responsibilities. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, and the church choir as a member/soloist. Her many interests included camping-hunting-fishing in her earlier years; playing the piano; reading; baking Christmas goodies and giving them away to family and friends during the holidays; attending high school class reunions/get togethers for her class and her husband's class; yard work; flower and vegetable gardening. She is survived by 1 daughter, Annett Nelson of Huron; 1 son, Michael (KimAnn) Schultz of Indianapolis, IN; 3 grandchildren, Tim (Brooke) VonEye, Amy (Cameron) Boyd, and Hannah Schultz; 4 great grandchildren, Ellie VonEye, Evan VonEye, Morgan Boyd, and Landon Boyd. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Ron on March 18, 2005.
