August Auggie Micheel, age 97, of 1345 Michigan Ave SW, Huron, died Tuesday, August 30, 2005, at the Huron Nursing Home. His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, September 2, at American Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Friday afternoon. Memorials may be directed to American Lutheran Church. August T. Micheel was born on March 18, 1908, to August and Lizzie (Voss) Micheel at Stroud, OK. He moved to South Dakota with his family in December of 1913, to a farm south of Cavour. He was confirmed at American Lutheran Church at Huron. He received his education at the Bloodgood Country School in rural Cavour. In 1933, he moved to Huron. On September 14, 1939, Auggie married Gwendolyn Olson at American Lutheran Church at Huron. Auggie worked for 4 years at Oles Northside Grocery Store, and for the next 47 years as a grocery salesman for Park Grant Company. He was a member of U.C.T., Huron Area Senior Center, and the Silvertones. His many interests included dancing, traveling, singing, playing the organ, and visiting with his many friends. He is survived by 1 brother, George (Esther) Micheel of Elkhart, IN; and 1 sister-in-law, Gladys Micheel of Stillwater, OK; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gwen on May 1, 1994; 4 sisters, Katie Husen, Irene Krutzfeldt, Martha Gradert, and Helen Arneson; 4 brothers, John Micheel, Arthur Micheel, Charles Micheel, and William Micheel; 4 brothers-in-law, Alfred Husen, Herbert Krutzfeldt, Carl Gradert, and Delmar Arneson; and 2 sisters-in-law, Lucille Micheel, and Andrea Micheel.
