Arlene Grayson, age 82, of 447 3rd St. SW, Huron, died Thursday, September 23, 2004, at the Huron Nursing Home surrounded by her family. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Monday, September 27, at the Welter Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Senner officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday until time of service at the Welter Funeral Home. Arlene Grayson was born Arlene Gladys Ohlhauser on February 18, 1922, to Martin and Elizabeth (Wohl) Ohlhauser at Hazelton, ND. As a small child she moved with her family to Killdeer, ND, where she grew up and graduated from Killdeer High School in 1941. On November 21, 1942, Arlene married George L. Grayson at Nyack, NY. After their marriage Arlene move to Huron while her husband was stationed with the U.S. Army in the African and European Theaters during World War II. After his discharge in 1945, he joined Arlene in Huron. In 1949, they moved to Pierre where they lived for 1 year, then returned to Huron. In 1958, they started Grayson Auto Supply where Arlene worked as a bookkeeper for many years. Upon their retirement in 1978, they sold the store to their son and moved to Mesa, AZ. Her husband, George, died on January 10, 1993. Arlene returned to Huron in February of 2004. She was a member of American Lutheran Church. Arlene was an avid dancer, and she and George loved to travel following their retirement. They enjoyed the time that they spent at their lake home at Watertown. Her love for traveling continued after Georges death. She is survived by 1 son, George G. (Sharon) Grayson of Huron; 2 daughters, Linda (Jim) Bauer of Duluth, MN, and Connie (Bill) Hackett of Clark, SD; 7 grandchildren, Timothy (Connie) Grayson, Toni (Brad) Rounds, Robert (Cheryl) Bauer Olson, Rebekka (Matt) Hill, Bradley Bauer, Kristen (Josh) Stricherz, and Karissa Hackett; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Elmer Ohlhauser of Minneapolis, MN, and Marvin Eid of Huron; 2 sisters, Virginia Hitchrick of Lake Oswego, OR, and Genevieve (Larry) Jacobs of Bedford, TX; and her special friend, John DeBruyn of Colfax, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George L.; 2 brothers, Raymond Ohlhauser, and infant Albert Ohlhauser; 3 sisters-in-law, Arlene Ohlhauser, Helen Ohlhauser, and Bertha Ohlhauser; and 1 brother-in-law, Harry Hitchrick.
