Anne Schlimgen, age 98, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Huron, died December 29, 2009, at Waterford at All Saints retirement community in Sioux Falls.
Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron with burial at St. Martin Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m.; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Anne Louise Schlimgen was born on May 26, 1911, at a homestead near Faith, SD, to John and Mary (Szuer) Wutsch. Within two years, the family moved to a farm in the Parkston area. They lived there about five years, then moved to rural Iroquois in 1917. Anne married Anthony W. Schlimgen September 26, 1938, in St. Pauls Catholic Church in Iroquois. They were engaged in farming for about eight years. They moved to Huron in 1945. After living in Huron for 50 years, Anne moved to Sioux Falls in 1996. Anne attended school at Iroquois and received her music education at Huron College. She gave piano instructions for 35 years. She served as a church organist for 25 years. She was an organist and pianist for Catholic Daughters Court 126 of Huron. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters in Huron for 42 years. Anne was a member of St. Martins Catholic Church of Huron and the Altar Society for 50 years. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Sioux Falls for 10 years.
Anne is survived by her sons, Lawrence (Arlys) Schlimgen of Worthington, MN, and John (Patricia) Schlimgen of Sioux Falls; daughters, Judith (Richard) Davison of Joshua Tree, CA, JoAnne (Deen) Stoltenberg of Coon Rapids, MN, and Janelle (Jeffrey Mishlove) Barlow of Summerlin, NV; grandchildren, Anthony, Elizabeth, Catherine, Loren (Heidi), Lance (Kate), Angela Schlimgen, Shawna (Bjorn) Meisner, Brett (Yvonne)Stoltenberg, Lewis Barlow, Leander, Spencer, Tony Bell; 7 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Anthony in December 7, 1981; brothers, John and Joseph (Eleanor) Wutsch; sisters, Mary Wutsch, Magdalene (Bill) Mayer, and Margaret (Myron) Rogers.
