Anna West-Niece, age 90, of 420 21st St. SW, Huron, SD, died Friday, October 23, 2009, at StoneyBrook Suites in Huron.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, at Welter Funeral Home with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Anna Niece was born Anna M. Glanzer, daughter of Joe B. and Anna (Gross) Glanzer on September 24, 1919, in Yale, SD. She attended country school near her home. During World War II she lived in Milwaukee, WI, and worked at a defense plant.

On February 14, 1947, Anna married John Clifford West in Huron. They lived in Huron, owning and operating the Kirby vacuum franchise from 1949-1972. Anna worked at the Kirby office. They had a son, Ronald. Her husband, John passed away on February 18, 1972.

On February 15, 1975, Anna married Edgar Niece in Huron. They lived in Pierre until retiring to Huron in 1996. Edgar passed away on July 12, 2007.

She is survived by her son, Ronald (Kathleen) West of Huron; 2 granddaughters, Natalie (Brad) Micheel of Sioux Falls, SD, and Melissa (Robbie) Baruth of Alpena, SD, 6 great grandchildren, Gabriella Micheel, Zane Micheel, Jaycee Baruth, McKenzie Baruth, Samuel Baruth and Addyson Baruth; and 1 sister, Viola Brown of Hoffman, MN.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe B. Glanzer on June 16, 1965; her mother, Anna Glanzer on May 29, 1934; her 2 husbands, John West and Edgar Niece; 5 brothers, William, Joe, George, Herbert, and Jake; and 2 sisters, Zola Stocks, and Dorothy Decker.
