Ann E. Mattke, age 92, of Huron, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at SunQuest Healthcare Center.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Huron, with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Her visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Monday, March 13 at Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Ann E. Moeding, the daughter of Willie and Johanna (Thompson) Moeding, was born on March 1, 1925, at Cavour, SD. Ann lived on the family home south of Cavour, SD before the family moved to Morningside where she attended School. Due to family hardships Ann was forced to find work at an early age.
On December 23, 1944, Ann married Edward Mattke at Alexandria, SD. After Ed's discharge from the U.S. Army on November 14, 1946, the couplepurchased property south of Huron where they farmed for the next 50 plus years.
Ann was a member of First United Methodist Church in Huron for many years.
She enjoyed embroidery and camping with her daughter and son-in-law. Ann and her sister, Mabel also enjoyed travelling with the Country Kings Band (Ed and sons). Ann's family was very important to her and she loved spending time with them.
Grateful for having shared in Ann's life are her 4 children, Terry (Kathy) Mattke of Enid, OK, Nancy (Jack) Kieso of Huron, Gary (Deb) Mattke of Huron, and Jeff (friend, Veronica) Mattke of Huron; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jerry (Lee) Mattke of Arizona; 3 sisters-in-law, Lois Meyer of Minnesota, Norma Cecil of De Smet, SD, and Alice Moeding of Huron, SD; many nieces and nephews; and a special niece Nyla Ondricek.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward in 2003; 4 brothers; and 6 sisters.
