Andy Wallenstein, age 82, of Huron died Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron. His funeral will be 11:00 am Friday, February 13, 2015 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial in the Manchester Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 9:30 am to 11:00 am Friday morning before the service. Andrew Harry Wallenstein was born on February 23, 1932 in Worthing, South Dakota to Henry and Bertha (Buttenchoen) Wallenstein. He attended school in Melham, Bryant, and Manchester. He worked with his family as a painter, painting homes, barns and many other buildings. Andy married Ruth Schutt on November 29, 1968 in Cherokee, Iowa. The couple moved to De Smet in 1971. Andy worked as a janitor at the Kingsbury County Court House for 20 years until 1991. After he and Ruth divorced, Andy then moved to Erwin for several years and worked as a painter. Andy moved to Huron in 1998 to be closer to his children. He entered the De Smet Good Samaritan Center in 2007 before returning to Huron and entering the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in 2009. Andy enjoyed painting, fishing, and playing cards. He always enjoyed his Saturday bingo dates with his granddaughters. Andy is survived by his four children, Lynette (Steven) Van Dyke of Luxemburg, WI, Lori Wallenstein of Huron, Lisa Wallenstein of Huron, and Andrew Wallenstein of Huron; eight grandchildren, Reva Wallenstein, Samantha McAdaragh, Rhea (John Schmidt) Schmidt, Katherine McAdaragh, Karis Thompson, Kaid Wallenstein, Anthony Miller, Darrien Martin; two great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Andy was preceded in death by his parents; his four brothers, George, Kenny, Harold, and Richard Wallenstein; and one sister, Alice Schutt.
