Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron with a private burial at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7 pm Friday, April 10, 2015 at Welter Funeral Home. There will be no visitation prior to the service at the church. Amanda Meta Anna (Kohlmeyer) Noack was born in Wolsey on December 12, 1927 to Carl and Elsie (Witthoeft) Kohlmeyer. She became a child of God through baptism, and was confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wolsey. Amanda grew up on the family farm with her sister and five brothers. She attended and graduated from Wolsey High School. She helped her mother at Frank's Hamburger Shop in Huron for a number of years during her high school days. Amanda married Arnold Noack on December 27, 1949 at St. John's Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on a farm near Artesian, where they raised their three children. Amanda played the organ at Immanuel Lutheran Church for many years, including for many weddings and funerals. She was a fantastic baker and loved crocheting afghans for family and friends. After Arnold died in a farm accident in 1963 Amanda went back to being a waitress in Huron. She moved there to live in 1970 and worked at the Plains, the Barn, and the Hanger for many years until her retirement. Amanda was an Avon representative for many of those years as well and loved talking to people and sharing stories with them until dementia/Alzheimer's took away her memory and personality. Amanda is survived by her three children Max (Jeanne) Noack of Ames, IA, Kathryn (Brad) Weatherford of Huron, and Ivan (Rose) Noack of Huron; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Nathaniel (Corinne) Kohlmeyer of Huron, Max (Phyllis) Kohlmeyer of Wolsey; two sister-in-laws, Beverly Kohlmeyer of Huron, Phyllis Kohlmeyer of Huron; many nieces and nephews. Amanda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold Noack; her sister Doris Kohlmeyer; and her brothers Marcus, Leonard and infant Marcel Kohlmeyer.
