Obituary

Mrs. Floyd (Alvina) Kopfmann, age 88, of Sunquest Village, Huron, and formerly of Alpena, died Saturday, November 19, 2005 at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 22nd at the American Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Monday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Tuesday morning. The family will be present from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home. Alvina Kopfmann was born Alvina Ochsner on February 24, 1917, to Carl and Lydia (Neuharth) Ochsner on a farm north of Alpena. She attended grade school in Grant Township and graduated from Alpena High School in 1934. She worked at grocery stores in Alpena and Huron. On June 21, 1942, Alvina married Floyd Kopfmann at Yuma, AZ. They made their home in San Diego, CA and worked at Consolidated Aircraft Corporation in the blueprint department building B24 bombers. In 1943 they returned to Alpena to farm. They made their home north of Alpena until September of 2005, when they moved to Huron. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church, church circle, and president of the Alpena PTA. She is survived by her husband Floyd of Huron; four children, Stanley (Calajean) Kopfmann of Alpena, Judeen Schley of Alpena, Galen Kopfmann of Tinley Park, IL and Duane (Leanne) Kopfmann of Alpena; 7 grandchildren, Peggy (Terry) Smith of Huron, Michael (Lisa) Kopfmann of Huron, Andrea Kopfmann of Marshall, MN, Paul (Lynette) Wold of Yankton, Kim (Jason) Gill of Grand Island, NE, Bonnie Schley of Charter Oak, IA and Robbie Schley of Alpena; 11 great grandchildren, Krissa Smith, Jared Smith, Alex Kopfmann, Megan Kopfmann, Austin Kopfmann, Zachary Kopfmann, Justin Gill, Ryan Gill, Garrett Schley, Alex Wold and Benjamin Wold; 1 sister Pauline Ochsner of Fresno, CA; 1 sister-in-law, Vi Ochsner of Alpena and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 granddaughter, Kristi Ann Kopfmann, 2 brothers, Ariel and Markus Ochsner and 1 sister Esther Gordon. Casket bearers will be Paul Wold, Mike Kopfmann, Rob Schley, Terry Smith, Jason Gill and Brian Brodersen.
