Alvin H. Harmdierks, age 73, of Huron passed away, February 10, 2008 at his home in Huron. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Huron, SD, with the Rev. Daniel Domke officiating. Burial will be at Feistner Cemetery at a later date. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Alvin H. Harmdierks was born on January 1, 1935 to George and Lena (Schroeder) Harmdierks in Lane, SD. Alvin graduated from Lane High School in 1954. Alvin married Christine Danielson on December 31, 1970. He married Deborah Muellenberg on September 28, 2002 in Redfield, SD. The two made their home in Huron. In Alvins early years, he worked for a threshing crew, Thomas Carnival, and had a brief enlistment in the U.S. Navy. Alvin worked for farmers in MN and SD. He also worked for the city of Huron before retiring in 2005. Alvin was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron. He enjoyed collecting and fixing old items, helping friends, neighbors, and family. He enjoyed talking to people about the past, present, and future, and giving theories on all subjects. Alvins biggest enjoyment was his family. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Deborah, Huron, SD; two sons, Mark (Heather) Harmdierks, Huron, SD and Adam (Ramona) Harmdierks, Waco, TX; three daughters: Dawn (Darren Adam) Case, Fullerton, ND, Julie Werner, Redfield, SD, and Marsha Werner, San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren: Jessica, Samantha, and Shayna Case, Mark Allan, Tabitha, and Christine Harmdierks, and Ashley and Chloe Hutchens; four Brothers: Herman Harmdierks, Wessington Springs, SD, Ed (Jean) Harmdierks, Huron, SD, Orville (Vicki) Harmdierks, Wessington Springs, SD, and Jerry Harmdierks, Wall, SD; two sisters, Ruby (Larry ) Harper, Alpena, SD and Darlene Berg, Gresham, OR; two brothers-in-law, Fred (Fricke) Frederickson, Sioux Falls, SD and Bob Albin of Wall, SD; and many nieces and nephews. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harry, John, and George Harmdierks; six sisters: Margaret Perkins, Lila Fredrickson, Violet Steichen, Arlene Albin, Helen Soares, and Mildred Abraham; and his nephew, Barney Harmdierks.
