Mrs. Edward R. (Alma) Peterson, age 81, of rural Wolsey, died Sunday, June 6, 2004 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 10th at St. Johns Lutheran Church at Wolsey with Rev. Nathan Henschen officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday afternoon and evening and Thursday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Thursday afternoon. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Alma Peterson was born Alma Clara Oppermann on May 1, 1923, to Harvey and Emma (Kuehle) Oppermann at Alpena, SD. She grew up in the Virgil and Alpena area and attended rural school. She was a housekeeper in the Virgil and Alpena area and later at Huron. On June 10, 1943, Alma married Edward R. Peterson at Wolsey, SD. Together they lived on a farm in rural Wolsey all her married life. Alma served on the election board of Virgil, Vernon and Dearborn Townships for many years. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church of Wolsey, the Lutheran Women Missionary League, and a Sr. and Charter member of the Neighborly Get Together Club. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, raising chickens and having her family gather around the dinner table whenever possible. She is survived by her husband Edward R. Peterson of Wolsey; two daughters, JoAnn (William) St. Clair of Tulare, and Judy (Jerry) Boram of Salado, TX; one son, Richard (Lisa) Peterson of Wolsey; seven grandchildren, Deborah St. Clair, William St. Clair, David (Stephanie) Boram, Douglas (Monica) Boram, Jessica Peterson, Justin Peterson and Jacob Peterson; one sister-in-law, Bessie Oppermann; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Norma Brenner, one brother, Alvin Bud Oppermann, one brother-in-law, John Brenner Jr., and one niece Sandra Brenner Weissner.
