Allen D. Olson, age 82 of Huron, SD passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron.

His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery at a later date.

His visitation, with the family present, will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, at the Welter Funeral Home, with a prayer service to follow; or visitation one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home on Wednesday.

Allen D. Olson, the son of Bernard and Veulah (Flisram) Olson, was born on May 9, 1933 in Bonesteel, SD. He attended school and graduated from Virgil High School. Allen was a truck driver and worked for PTI and Willers Trucking for many years before his retirement.

Allen married Betty Bittner on March 31, 1956 in Huron, SD

Allen was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ. He enjoyed woodworking, puzzles, attending auctions, and watching the Minnesota Twins. Allen loved to spend time with his family and friends.

Grateful for having shared in Allen's life are his wife, Betty of Huron, SD; daughter, Deb Olson of Huron; six grandchildren: Michael (Brandi) Olson, Kelli Frank, Jennifer (Martin) Wagner, Matthew (Laura Frank) Olson, Brittany (Casey Jacobs) Olson, and Brianne (Casey Ciffra) Olson; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene Olson of
Huron, SD; sister Donna Johnson of Tucson, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his son David in 1997; five brothers, and one sister.
