Allen (Al) G. Hegg, age 72, of Huron, died on Friday, December 24, 2010, at his home in Huron.

His Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 30, 2010 at American Lutheran Church in Huron with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron.

Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 29 at Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 p.m.; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Allen (Al) G. Hegg, the son of Ted and Clara (Waldner) Hegg, was born on October 22, 1938, in Huron, SD. He went to Hegg School and Sanborn County School before graduating from Woonsocket High School.

On February 28, 1959, Allen married Rosella (Rosie) Larson at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in rural Huron. He and his wife farmed in Sanborn County for 11 years. Allen also had a pilots license and worked for Floyd Moore in Manchester, SD. In 1979 they moved to Tacoma-Gig Harbor, WA, where Allen worked for Suburban Propane. During their time in Washington they built a log home. They moved to Huron in 1990.

Allen was a member of the Lutheran Faith for his entire life. He was also a member of the Astros C.B. Club, and the Tacoma Eagles Aerie #3. Allen loved to tinker and was very inventive. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his brother, Dennis (Joanne) Hegg, of Mitchell, SD; 3 brothers-in-law, Ronald Larson, of Huron, SD, Al Braun of Coeur DAlene, ID, and Floyd Brandenburg of Victoria, TX; and his nieces, nephews, and God-children.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosie in 2002; brother, Ted "Duane" Hegg; sister, Marilyn Alexander; brother-in-law, Rod Alexander; and sisters-in-law, Dee Polly, Marlys Braun, and Vonnie Brandenburg.
