Alice Wullweber, age 95, of Huron, SD, formerly of Virgil, SD, died Sunday, February 26, 2012, at Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 2, at Riverview United Methodist Church in Huron with burial at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.; or Friday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. Alice Wullweber was born Alice Ruth Bolte, daughter of William and Ruth (Surmon) Bolte, on November 27, 1916, at rural Wolsey, SD. At the age of two the family moved to Burr Oak Township. She attended the Molvig School for 8 years, then Virgil High School from which she graduated in 1934. She then attended Huron College for two years receiving a teaching certificate and then teaching for one year in a rural school. On December 25, 1936, Alice married Marvin Wullweber at her parent's farm west of Virgil. They farmed for seven years, later moving to Vigil, SD, where they started and operated Wullweber Hardware. After selling the hardware store Alice worked at the Virgil Post Office and the Virgil Co-op. She was a member of Virgil United Methodist Church. Alice taught Sunday School and was a member of the United Methodist Women; Rebekah Lodge; Extension Club; Vernon Club; and the Neighborhood Get-to-gather Club. Alice is survived by 2 sons, Dwight (Ann) Wullweber of Huron, and Lloyd (Pat) Wullweber of Mina Lake, SD; 3 grandchildren, Kirk (Ann) Wullweber, Paul Wullweber, and Robert Wullweber; 4 step-grandchildren, Joe Thorne, Jeff (Gina) Thorne, Jane (Brooks) Augustine, and Jeri (Vince) Nelson; 2 great-grandchildren; 14 step-great grandchildren; and 1 great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Marvin on October 6, 2002.
