Alice M. Schorzmann, 87, Wessington Springs, SD formerly of Alpena, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Weskota Manor in Wessington Springs.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Alpena United Parish in Alpena with interment at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 10 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron, followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm.; or visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Alice M. Heins was born May 29, 1929 to Frank and Alice (Kissner) Heins in Puyallup, WA.  She was raised and educated in Puyallup.  She later moved to South Dakota, where she married Melvin D. Schorzmann on October 4, 1975 in Alpena, SD, where they lived for many years.  Alice spent several years working as a purchasing manager and nurses aid at Weskota Memorial Hospital in Wessington Springs.  In later years, Alice and Melvin moved to Wessington Springs.

Alice enjoyed bowling, fishing, baking and playing cards.  She was a longtime active member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin Schorzmann, Wessington Springs; three sons, Clifford (Janene) Jager, Savage, MN, Luverne (Linda) Jager, Wessington Springs, Daryle (Jane) Jager, Urbandale, IA; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donnie Heins, Rusty Heins and a sister, Phyllis Heins.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
