Mrs. Paul (Alice) Minium, age 90, of 1251 Arizona Ave. SW, Huron, died Thursday, November 9, 2006, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Monday, November 13th, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Jonathan Boehne and Rev. John Werner officiating. Burial will be at the Wolsey Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Monday afternoon. The family will be present from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. Alice Leora Minium was born on July 16, 1916, at Dell Rapids, SD. She was adopted by Phillip and Helene (Gramkow) Werner of Kadoka, SD. She attended school and graduated from Kadoka High School. She attended Huron College for two years and received her teaching degree. She taught school for a number of years in a one-room country school. On June 1, 1937, Alice married Paul Minium at Huron. They lived in Huron, Elkton and Wolsey for a number of years and then moved to the San Jose, California area in 1957. Alice was employed at Crocker State Bank and Wells Fargo Bank and was a tax preparer for H & R Block in California. They returned to Huron in 1985 where she was the office manager for H & R Block franchise in Huron and purchased the franchise in 1986 and retired in 1998. Alice and Paul continued to live in Huron. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Alice was honored as a one-room rural schoolteacher at the 1984 State Fair. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidering and quilting. She is survived by her husband Paul Minium of Huron; 1 daughter, Mary Ann (David) Rand of Huron; 1 son, Larry Ray Minium of Yuma, AZ; 6 grandchildren, James (Louise) Minium of Brooks, GA, Kristine (David) DeLisle of Menlo Park, CA, Brian (Karen) Rand of Huron, Lisa (Robert) DiRose of Watertown, Scott (Julianna) Minium of Guam and Mark (Jillane) Minium of Greenville, SC; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; 1 niece, Adele Sip; and 1 nephew, Rev. John Werner. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jerry, 1 brother, Reinhart Werner and 1 sister-in-law, Dorothy Werner. Casket bearers will be Robert DiRose, Mathew DiRose, Justin DiRose, Brian Rand, Cory Rand and James Minium.
