Alice Lea Lyon, age 87, of Huron, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012, at the Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron, SD. Her Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, SD. Visitation with the family present will be Friday, April 13, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Alice Lea Lyon was born Alice Lea Zeeck on May 18, 1924, to Otto and Anna (Timm) Zeeck in Huron, SD. She attended schools in Huron and graduated from Huron High School in 1942. Alice married William Lyon on May 1, 1946, in Huron, SD. Alice worked as a homemaker for many years. She also worked for Lewis Drug in Huron, SD Alice was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron. She enjoyed fishing and camping. Alice also loved gardening, growing flowers, watching the birds and feeding squirrels. Alice was an exceptional cook, and enjoyed baking for her family, and spending time with them. Grateful for having shared in Alice's life are her husband, William of Huron; son Bruce (Darla) Lyon of Pierre, SD; two daughters, Lorna (Randy) Kolash of Bellevue, ID, and Jane (Kirk) Goodwin of Rapid City, SD; six grandchildren: Robert (Jodi) Glanzer of Rapid City, SD, Matthew (Sabrina) Lyon of Pierre, SD, William (Tanna) Lyon of Denver, CO, Callie Glanzer of Boseman, MT, Anna (Greg) Edwards and Sarah Kolash, both of Bellevue, ID; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene Schroder of Faribault, MN. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen Hawley; and two brothers-in-law.
