Alice Hunter, age 91, of Huron, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Avantara in Huron. Her Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 18, at Welter Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Alice was born November 30, 1931 in Hitchcock, SD to Gustav and Ellen (Anderson) Eldeen. Alice married William Hunter on June 10, 1950 in Huron.

Alice worked for Armours as a cashier in the restaurant.  She retired from Armours in April 1991.   Alice's favorite times were spent camping with family, holiday gatherings, playing cards and Rummikub and going to Walmart.  She especially enjoyed trips to visit her children and grandchildren – always with a camera in tote.  The younger grandchildren always melted her heart and brought big smiles. Her deep faith in God and her church family were priority in her life.  Alice was a member of Huron Nazarene Church.

Grateful for having shared in Alice's life are her children, Willis (Cherry) Hunter of Sioux Falls, Suzanne (George) Wallenstein of Worthing and Debra Metter of Cavour.  Grandchildren include Matthew (Angela) Hunter of Castlewood, Micheal (Cass) Hunter of Huron, Marcus (Johanna) Hunter of Sioux Falls, Kerry (Bill) Weeldreyer of Sioux Falls, Jeremy (Melissa) Wallenstein of Lennox, Justin Wallenstein & Hope of Worthing and Casey (Danielle Meyer) Metter  of Huron.  Nineteen great-grandchildren – Cala, Jakeb, Ella & Landan Hunter, Devin & Mason Hunter, Sawyer & Hanna Hunter; Derek (Brooke) Wallenstein, Dylan (Nikki) Weeldreyer, Darian (Alex) Thill; Braeden (Rachel) Wallenstein, Blayne Wallenstein (Abby Kleinsasser) & Makinleigh Wallenstein; Macy & Olivia Wallenstein; Micah, Taylor & Luxanna Metter; five great-great-grandchildren – Murphy & Noah Wallenstein, Everett Weeldreyer and Alex & Sawyer Thill as well as many nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband William, her parents, her siblings – Carl, Clarence, Harold and Gladys Eldeen, and son-in-law David Metter.
