Alice A. Holm, age 97, of Huron, SD, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron. Her Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the American Lutheran Church in Huron, with burial at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Alice A. Christiansen, the daughter of Andrew and Annie (Liaboe) Christiansen, was born on August 15, 1917 in Irene, SD. She attended rural Daneville School and graduated from Viborg High School. Alice married Burnette Andersen on April 4, 1940 and lived in Iowa for several years. To this union were born two children, Dennis and Marlys. The couple moved to Sioux Falls, SD and then to Woonsocket, SD in 1946 where Alice was a member of The Bethany Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aide Society. Alice moved to Huron, SD in 1964. She worked for the Gerald Dress Shop, Fair City Lanes, and the Quick Clean Laundromat over a period of years. Alice married Leonard Holm on March 6, 1965 in Elk Point, SD. The couple made their home in Huron, SD where Alice was an active member of The American Lutheran Church, the Huron American Legion William Reaves Post #7 Auxiliary, and served on the board of the Huron Area Senior Center for two terms. She was a member of the Round Table Extension Club, the Huron Lioness Club, the American Cancer Society, and the Huron Women's Bowling Association. Alice also volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Huron Regional Medical Center for many years. Grateful for having shared in Alice's life are her children, Dennis (Carol) Andersen of Torrington, WY and Marlys Redman of Metairie, LA; two grandchildren, Scott (Andrea) Andersen of Torrington, WY and Chris (Katelyn) Andersen of Corvallis, MT; great grandchildren, Taylor Brooke and Callie May Andersen; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Christiansen of Yankton, SD, Elaine Andersen of Viborg, SD, and Lois (Robert) Ough of Williston, ND; brother-in-law, Ralph Holm of Seattle, WA; and several nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard in 1995; granddaughter, Holly Andersen; two brothers; and son-in-law, Rory Redman.
