Alfred Dorris, age 82, of 18 Rushmore Ave. NW, Huron, died Monday, November 21, 2005, at his residence. His body will be cremated and there will be no services. Alfred Erwin Dorris was born on November 24, 1922, to Daniel and Jane (Mangs) Dorris at Alexandria, SD. As a young child he moved with his family to a farm near Fedora, SD, and attended country school at rural Fedora. He stayed on the farm until his late teens when he moved to Mitchell and worked for Andersons Mink Farm. On August 6, 1949, Alfred married Beulah Hornback at Mitchell. The couple later moved to Huron. He worked for Groves Construction in Huron for 25 years, and Huron Dress Beef for several years. On February 25, 1963, Alfred married Donna Stienblock at Pipestone, MN. The couple made their home in Huron. He retired in 1985. He was a member of the VFW in Mitchell. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and stock car racing. He is survived by 5 sons, Rick (Paula) Dorris of Huron, Don (Peggy) Dorris of Tulare, Wynn (Maria) Dorris of Huron, Jim (Lois) Dorris of Huron, and David (Mary) Dorris of Huron; 3 daughters, Sandy Jerome of Huron, Vicky (Kevin) Slunecka of Everly, IA, and Nickie Dorris of Sioux City, IA; 34 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 1 sister, Nora (Leonard) Carlson of Camus, WA; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Dorris of Huron, and Arlene Dorris of Artesian. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Michael; 2 brothers, Lowell and Dale; 3 sisters, Mille (Frank) Voltz, Goldie (Harry) Hendricks, and Verna (Edwin) Mager; 1 granddaughter, Heather Slunecka; an infant grandson; and 1 great granddaughter, Autumn Dorris
